Online Scams
I’d like to believe that this world is a perfect place where nobody is out to get you, but with the internet comes a ton of new ways that you can be scammed. There’re plenty of trustworthy online paintball stores out there, but please take special precautions when ordering paintball stuff online. Check for the company’s info. Talk to others to see which paintball sites they order from, and how they would rate their service. If it looks suspicious, there’s probably a good reason for it.
Ebay holds a great deal of paintball supplies, and most run at competitive prices, but always read the fine print. This probably sounds like a no-brainer, but I’ve personally seen an item(s) up for sale where the picture will include many…let’s say “appetizing additions that aren’t included in the overall sale. Accessories, jerseys, tanks, hoppers – anything to make it look even sweeter. Sometimes the images will come from the companies (blame the seller if he’s using false ads, not the company), and others are taken directly by the seller, but ALWAYS be sure to read every detail of the ad.
It’s sickening to know that scams like this happen everyday, but just stay on your toes and do your research before purchasing online. In addition to this, local paintball stores can be just as bad. Several years ago (before I really even played serious paintball) we bought a Tippman Pro-carbine, a cheap-o mask, and a 14oz tank for some ridiculous amount. I’m thinking it was close to $250.00…That’s still a rip off for back then even. My dad was the one who went to pick it up, and we knew nothing at all about paintball at the time, and the store owner saw the perfect opportunity to jack up the price. Coincidentally, they were out of business in less than a year.
