NXe JRNY Webcast
NXe JRNY
You saw it in the preview, and you saw it on my birthday / Christmas wish list. Now you get to see it with your own eyes as NXe’s webcasts bring it into your home. Not… literally. I wish…
Anyway, down to business. Here’s a not-so-brief overview of what we have in the videos…
Video Numero Uno (You know I don’t speak Spanish!)
The Big Cheese: “Blah, blah, blah, it is your destiny to buy all NXe products, etc and so forth…”
Five hours later.
“From an engineering standpoint *FLASH* From a manufacturing standpoint *FLASH* From an innovative standpoint *FLASH* !!!”
Me: *Seizure*
The Big Cheese: “When you see this loader, you are going to be amazed. We have spent two years working on this loader. We are -”
Me: ZZZZZzzzzZZZZzzz
The Big Cheese: “And if there should ever be a problem, we’re gonna stand behind it 100%.”
Me: Okay?
The Big Cheese: “And you’re really gonna see what NXe is all about.”
Me: I bet…
Rock music begins!!! Nananananahananahahanadoogadooga!
And with 1:52 remaining in the half, we take a time out to bring you… actual features! Woo! Now, no more of my dumb commentary, I’ll try and keep it classy this time around.
Features:
No more drive cone. This time we have the augur, a screw shaped design that feeds the paint down the feedneck. Lightweight and consistent, it’s great to see a new design on the market like that. It is a true force feed design, meaning it does have springs and all that jazz.
Taking a page out of DXS’ book, NXe has made the JRNY easy to clean, with a removable tray a la the Pulse. Definitely a step up, even from a suicide shell and upgrade VLocity shells.
A very classy move is making the more expensive step to a one-piece, detachable feedneck. This makes it much easier to strengthen the feedneck and replace the feedneck in case of a break, a la Pulse.
The profile isn’t really anything special. It’s much smoother and the lid doesn’t have a lip, meaning that you won’t get annoyed by that once in a while hit on that lid lip.
The press button lid looks very nice, but I want to touch it and watch it in action. It’s got a ton of potential, but I worry about the spring system in it. NXe has also announced that they will be producing speed feed tops for the JRNY.
Battery life is gonna be great, and I’m excited to hear it’ll only take four AA batteries to run the hopper. No tools required to change batteries, so suck on that Halo.
Another great feature is the auto-reverse when the hopper senses a jam. The loading system will automatically reverse when it feels a jam. Now, how that will apply to a cessation of firing after a long string, I guess we have to wait and see.
Wow, now he’s just talkin’ crazy. According to Mr. NXe man, there are actually two sensors. I assume the first is the set of eyes within the loader. The second is a sensor that detects the flow of paint and optimizes the speed of the augur to keep and shoot consistently. That’s crazy like school in the summatime…
And that wraps it up! Hope you enjoyed the videos and my commentary. Until tomorrow!

Do you know how much it will cost?

I’ve heard rumors of $120, but nothing I can find on true price. Anyway, it won’t come out for true release until February, I guess we get to wait until then.
