Marq Edge Body
In a part of the season dominated by new guns, there isn’t a whole lot of focus on the guns of yesterday. That’s unfortunate, because very few guns are standing out to me this season compared to last. Indeed, many, if not most, of the guns released as 07 models can compete or outperform their 08 counterparts by standard upgrades alone.
The Marq is no exception. Although there will be no 08 Marq, there will be several other Bob Long Technologies guns released, including both the Protege and Vice. The Marq is its own style of gun, though, and so I’m happy to see that it’s not being forgotten entirely.

The Marq Edge Body!
There are to be only 50 of these made, and I like the looks of them, although I must say my favorite Marq remains the Darq, followed closely by the Closer. Marqs are in-line poppet valves, which is awesome, and unique! Uniqueness is something that is never overlooked in paintball, and Marqs reflect this, with astronomical resale prices due to the general individuality of each Marq.
The Marq definitely isn’t the best gun out there, but it does everything that it says it does. Its weight, while nothing to brag about, is a bit over two pounds, and with this new body, a small amount less than stock, possibly even less than the Closer.
I hope we see a resurgence in Bob Long this season. The Vice is going to be amazing, period. At 1.5 pounds, how could it not be? I would love to see similar changes to the Marq. I never thought I’d see the day that Timmies dropped below two pounds, but here it is, with the Protege weighing in at an astronomical 1 lb 10 oz. (1.625 pounds). Think about the madness should a Marq ever drop below two.
