How (Not) To Play A Paintball Tournament
Seriously. No, seriously. Stop laughing and read this.
Sadly, apparently there were winners at this tournament. Okay, I’ll admit, I’m not that great of a player. In fact, I’m inferior to many. That doesn’t mean I play at this level of “tournament” paintball, though.

Actually, I’ve seen worse play in my life.
Not everyone is a “pro ballah” with “mad skillz” and “badtypoz!!11oneoneone” Sometimes, when I see kids out there, I have to remind myself that little leaguers wear the same kind of uniform as the MLB guys too, but they don’t have the coordination of the pros.
the other weekend I went to an indoor field, watched a bunch of 12-15 year olds “practice”. Half-way into the session, I took a few of them aside and showed them a move that was highly aggressive, but the layout of the field dictated they could make it in a specific way. Well they did it a different way, but it still worked. And they learned from it, which was the main goal. Knowledge is useless unless it’s shared.
That being said, I’ve run into so many “agg kiddiez” in my life that it’s gotten beyond the point where I laugh anymore. When a kid is wearing the latest DYE jersey, talking smack, and saying his current gun is a piece of recycled food (you figure it out) then I know they’re here for the social club. I don’t bother helping them, as they’re here to play “RL HALO”.

Typically when someone drops an extra $30-50 to play a day of paintball in a local tourney, I expect higher of them.
Maybe it just hurts my sense of competitiveness to see ill prepared people in such a situation. On a day when I’m just out to play, I always make it a point to give pointers to people who seem like they’d appreciate them after a game. But when it comes time to play in a tournament, I know my team is as well-prepared for that tourney as possible, and that is a quality that I admire seeing in other teams as well.
I know we were all beginners once, but people who aren’t actively trying to get better, but participate in tourneys anyway annoy me.
