PSP All-Star Games
Monday, June 25th, 2007I’ve come across some cool All-Star vids on youtube that might be worth watching.
I’ve come across some cool All-Star vids on youtube that might be worth watching.
After several days of intense paintball at PSP ChiTown, the final standings for the NXL are as follows.
Take special note of XSV in dead last (XSV Damage as they are officially known as now). I never really did like them, but it’s a real shame to see them in this position. On the other hand, however, I’m really pumped to see teams like X-Factor and Ironmen at the top. I’m a big fan of both teams, because they seem very professional about the sport and definitely mix it up a bit with the old powerhouses. Dynasty taking third is somewhat of a surprise, although I firmly believe the competition is a lot stiffer these days, but still not a bad finish at all.
If you’re interested in video footage from the final match between X-factor and Ironmen you can find it here on PBStar. They also have the videos for Legacy vs. Infamous and Aftershock vs. Russians. The last minute in the X-factor/Ironmen is the best footage of all as they get the teams in their huddles – Lang is so damn inspirational.
Know any local teams that might have entered? You can check the full roster of paid entries here.
In the Open, D2, and D3 Division finishes, the results are…
You can find the rest of the scores in detail, here.
It also appears that the Draxxus field had some bad experiences with the refs there. They were supposedly lazy and “more active between gamesâ€? than during them, but I wouldn’t know anything about these kind of things because I can’t even get to these events! I really, really hope this wasn’t anybody we know, and I really, really hope that FFP brings home that field, even if it will be exclusive.

There wasn’t much good to say about the third 2007 CTS event at Badlandz in Chicago. Indeed, accounts varied so much on every aspect of the event it was hard to get a straight story. Here’s what I got…
The reffing sucked. Ahahaha, like I’d ever believe a player who said that. However, it did sound like there were some inexperienced refs who made a couple bad calls. Overall, I think the reffing was decent.
The fields sucked. Now here’s where everyone is getting a little upset at Badlandz. Apparently, Badlandz threw together some crappy fields for CTS, and let Aftershock pratice on the nice field, etc. etc. It’s Badlandz, it’s always gonna be there for ‘Shock.
I don’t know who’s accountability this falls under, but didn’t anyone think about PSP’s Chicago Open being next weekend? Seriously, how could CTS expect a big turnout with something like a PSP event in the same area the weekend afterward.
The paint was good.
Haha, and that’s pretty much what everyone had to say.
Here are the Top 3 in each Division.
1st- Electric Funeral
2nd- Hitmen
3rd- Fracture
1st- Krosstown Krew
2nd- STFU
3rd- KTB Army
1st- DK
2nd- FN Hostile
3rd- Instigators
Paintball Sports Promotions is pleased to announce the dates and location for our fourth event of the year. The River City Open will debut at the Council Bluffs Recreation Center, August 2nd-5th. Located within fifteen minutes of the Omaha International Airport just off the I-80/I-29 interchange, the Rec center is ideally located and easily accessible.
The Council Bluffs Recreation Center is also just minutes away from some of the best Omaha has to offer. Head over the river into Old Market for great food and nightlife. Featuring cobblestone streets lined with shops, restaurants, pubs and clubs, the Old Market has all the makings for a great night out. Or spend the evening in Council Bluffs and test your luck at Harrah’s, the Horseshoe Casino or the Ameristar Casino.
Registration for the River City Open will begin on Thursday, June 28th. Please remember that event registration is a two part process. You must both register and pay for your team in order to ensure a spot in the event. Only paid teams will be admitted into the event. Also please keep in mind that as the event gets closer, registration fees will increase.
For more information about the River City Open please visit www.pspevents.com. Check back often as we continue to add more information for this great event including directions and great deals on hotels and rental cars. We look forward to seeing everyone in Omaha!
Aaauuugggh! I have relatives in Omaha. I think I’ll be asking them if I can visit. I’m looking forward to the results of the Chicago Open. Our local team JFK is reffing there, and will be getting an ‘07 X-ball field, making the deal pretty insanely awesome for us players that ball at Friendly Fire.
You’ve probably seen these posted before, but now it’s time for another one! PBNation is once again handing out another contest, check out the prize.
Be the one of the 1st on the planet to get your hands on this brand new marker from BT Paintball. We will giveaway two of the new BT-4 ERC markers, with a retail value of $399.95 each. These guns have not been released yet and the guns that will be given away for the contest will be the very first guns of production.
Take all of the outstanding features found in the ultra-reliable BT-4 combat, add the BT electronic grip frame and the HALO powered BT rip-clip and you get one of the world’s fastest shooting markers. The addition of the BT electronic grip frame brings incredible firing rates. The HALO powered BT rip-clip relies on HALO’s championship proven feeding technology to assure this marker not only cycles at speed but sends rounds downrange without fail.
Check out the BT Paintball web site for more info on their markers and other stuff.
If I could make a guess, it will look something along the lines of the BT-4 Ironhorse.

But there’s always a catch! You must be an Annual Supporting Member to be eligible to win. Here’s the rest of the fine print, read it here on PBNation.
Paintball Sports Promotions is now happy to offer even more great divisions for the 2007 Chicago Open. The event will be held June 20th-24th at the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Center in Bolingbrook, IL.
Teams that cannot miss that extra day of work or school, but cannot bear the thought of missing one of the biggest events of the year now have an option to play in the D3 and D4 5-man Saturday-Sunday divisions. Teams registered in this division will have all of their preliminary games scheduled to be played on Saturday morning. Quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals will then follow Saturday afternoon and Sunday. Entry fee for these divisions are $1400 for D3 and $1200 for D4.
D2 5-man has also been added to the list of divisions at the Chicago Open. This is the only 5-man division that is open to players that are also playing XBall at the event. Preliminaries will be played on Saturday with quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals to follow into Sunday. Entry fee for this division is $1500.
Registration for D2 5-man will remain open until Friday, June 22nd for those teams that just can’t get enough play time. Please note that while the D2 5-man preliminary round will not conflict with XBall, it is possible for later rounds of D2 5-man to overlap with XBall finals. No adjustments or refunds will be made for conflicting schedules resulting from players playing both XBall and D2 5-man.
For classification purposes D2 5-man at the Chicago Open will count as a D3 event. No NXL players will be admitted to this division.

In an interesting move, PSP will now offer several new divisions of play for their Chicago Open. I fail to see the reasoning behind it. The D2 of 5-Man play will be a good addition, spreading the field a little for fairer play, but honestly, I doubt it will attract many more teams.
On the other hand, the Sat./Sun. 5-Man Division have many teams willing to play that. Probably can entice many more teams willing to make it a purely weekend thing. So, it looks like a mixed bag for PSP this time around.
Well, the next major NPPL event is here! I can tell everyone is probably still recovering from MAO, but Tampa is gonna be sweet! Featuring all the major teams and sponsors, this event and trade show is gonna be huge! And of course, one of my favorite features is the live webcast that they do for all of the center court games.
Watch every game played on NPPL’s Center Court live and for free from www.NPPLLive.com during the May 11 - 13 NPPL Tampa event!
All day Friday, Saturday and Sunday every game played on Center Court will be filmed by 4 cameras and covered by a full production team! The host will once again be accompanied by your favorite players and industry leaders through out the weekend as they give you all the play by play action and inside industry scoops live from the tower. In addition to all of this you can even interact with the host and his guests by emailing in questions for them to answer on the air!
Again, all of this is FREE to you all weekend LIVE through www.NPPLLive.com.
First, may I congratulate all the teams that played in PSP’s Mid Atlantic Open. You guys are all luckier than me!

And as for our local team, JFK. Well, they didn’t do so hot, winning only 3 of their games. Better luck next time guys!
Tickets went on sale in mid-April for PSP’s Mid-Atlantic Open, the second event in the PSP X-Ball series for the ‘07 season. Only $5-$15. What a ridiculous bargain for great seats at a professional sports event.
MAO will be held on the six competition fields at PBC in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It’s gonna be an amazing event, if past experience is anything to go by, and I’m real annoyed that I can’t be there. JFK, the team that we practice with at Friendly Fire Paintball will be competing there in the D3 division. I think that they can do very well, from what I’ve seen, all of the players, especially the younger ones, have gone through some pretty amazing strides in the past 6 months.
For more information, head over to PSP’s site.

The NCPA is hosting six JT USA High School Paintball Regional Championships. All of the events, like the JT USA High School Paintball National Championships, are 3-man events. The winner of each regional championship event will receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Championships in Dallas on April 21-22.
What is included:
- Airfare for 4 (3 players, one required adult chaperon)
- Rental Car
- Friday, Saturday and Sunday night hotel stay
- Rental car for your stay
- Entry Fee
- 3 cases of JT USA paintballsThis award is GUARANTEED for the 6 regional championship events - even if only ONE team plays, they will get the trip to the National Championships.
The only requirement to enter either the Regional or National Championships is that all the players on your team need to attend the same high school or junior high school. It’s also OK if you have kids on your high school team that go to a junior high school that feeds into your high school as long as that is approved in advance.
You can get more information about the events and sign up here:
http://www.college-paintball.com/high/events.html
In order to play a NCPA-sanctioned high school paintball tournament, all players on your 3-man team must go to the same high school. There are a few exceptions to this if you get approval in advance by emailing ncpa@college-paintball.com.
- You can play with kids from a junior high school that will attend your high school once they are done with junior high.
- You can play with kids who are attending a private school or who are home schooled if they would attend your high school were they to switch to public schooling.
- Kids from exceptionally small high schools (less than 100 students total) may combine with kids from other exceptionally small high schools in the same area. This exception will get the most scrutiny.
- Teams from the same private school are OK.Remember, you only need three students to play. Don’t worry if everyone on your team isn’t a seasoned tournament player; every other school is limitted to students from their school just like you are.
What events can I play?
If you have an eligible high school team (see above) you can play ANY events you’d like to. If you live in Washington, you can fly to Georgia and play the high school event there. You can play just the Regional events. Or you can skip the regional event and just play the National Championships. It’s all up to you.
Do I need my school’s approval to play?
NO! - The only requirement is that all of your players go to the same school (or meet the other criteria above). You don’t need to be an official club or team in order to compete, we just want you to get out there and play!
We have 6 players who are interested and can’t fit on one team - now what?
Enter two teams! Each school can enter as many teams as they would like. We encourage you to get as many people involved as possible. The events are inexpensive, and all the other teams are high school teams, so everyone should have a lot of fun regardless of whether you win or not. It’s a great chance to get some other students at your school interested in paintball and paintball tournaments.
Where are this year’s events?
Northwest Regional: March 17, Danger Zone Paintball, Tacoma, WA
Southwest Regional: March 25, NPPL Huntington Beach, CA
Midwest Regional: March 31, The Badlandz, Chicago, IL
South Central Regional: March 31, Xdrenalin Zone, Dallas, TX
Northeast Regional: March 31, Cobra Command, Philadelphia, PA
Southeast Regional: Dynamic Games, Atlanta, GA
I’d love to play the event in The Badlandz, but we definitely didn’t have enough forewarning. Next year I’m thinking we should hit it up for sure. Wouldn’t that be a freakin’ tight Spring Break. The entry fees don’t look bad at all, $30 a person is less than a CTS event, and the paint prices are pretty standard. If anyone is attending any of these events I’d love to hear how they go!
A local team from our city will be flying out to a couple of events to play Division III PSP this year, and it’ll be awesome to see how they do. They certainly have the determination to play competition like that, and judging them from the times we’ve seen them play, they definitely have the skills to compete. All of them are veterans to tournament paintball, and many of them are fresh out of high school.
There is nothing against this team – they meet the physical demands, they have the gear, they have the experience. There is nothing holding them back at this point, and I’m eager to see how they perform. And if they do manage to place, they can get some possible sponsors looking at them, as well as some nice cash prizes.
5-man Xball Division III
1st - $2,500
2nd - $1,500
3rd - $1,000

I’ll keep it updated when they get to an event, and they’ll be here before you know it!

You want footage of the games, but don’t feel like paying $30 for a new DVD after every event? Even though DerDer does an amazing job, most paintballers aren’t made of money. To see some of the action up close and personal from events that you couldn’t get to, check out PBStar. They do an absolutely awesome job over there, with pics, videos, and the latest news, so it’s definitely worth checking them out at least once. You’ll like what you see, I guarantee it. Here is some of the footage from PSP LAO, already up on their site. This particular match is the Final Match between the Ironmen and the Russian Legion.

EDIT: My apologies, but that is NOT Ironmen vs. Russian Legion. I dunno what happened to my embedded video…
Here are the results from the PSP LA Open, held at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA last weekend. (Well, technically the 1st - 4th.) Teams from all over the place competed on six fields in the midst of a huge tradeshow, for over $100,000 in cash and prizes. Too bad I don’t live closer to some of these events or I’d be there. $5 a night for tickets, or $15 for the whole event.
A note on the rankings, the Ironmen finally pulled a big win. Looks like the additions of Nicky Cuba and Sean McDonald, along with the amazing Ollie Lang helped pull the Ironmen to the top. Congrats to all the teams that placed.

NPPL has released the field layouts for the 2007 Huntington Beach event. Most are pretty generic, snake side and dorito with stuff in between. You know, the usual layout. But then there were two that caught my eye: the Spyder Field and the Bawls Field.
The Spyder field is just down right weird for an NPPL event. It has like…this diamond thing made up of pipe bunkers, or whatever you’d like to call them, sitting right on the entire left side of the field, right on the fifty. That’s not real uncommon, but then they have another pipe connecting the left side doll house to a right fifty stand up wedge. Bah, I can’t explain it, just look at the picture!

The Bawls Field has a double snake going, but both are fairly short. It seems like an interesting field to play, and should match up some wicked battles as both teams try to fit players in them.

Anyways, here are the links to the rest of the fields.
