Xplained: The XBall Training DVD

Sunday, September 9th, 2007

Looks good. I might pick up a copy, depending on what I hear about it. If it really goes in depth, like a lot of players (including me) hope it will, then I’ll definitely consider it. Video is a good way to pick up tips.

One4One - DDay Documentary

Friday, July 27th, 2007

Well, having seen some of the crappy footage of DDay 07, I was more than elated to hear that One4One is making a documentary covering the big parts, with awesome interviews and great footage.

I pretty much really want to see the second half of it. Though, that bit in the middle for BT was rather annoying. Ah well, can’t have free videos without some money flowing from somewhere!

Canadian Baller to Produce TV Series and DVD

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

In August of 07, Canadian Baller plans to debut their entire season of filming on TV. They’re a group of paintball maniacs that have been following Canadian teams and top players to all of the major events, filming them in High Def and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround. You may not be able to get this kind of quality on TV, so be sure to look for the DVD that will be released shortly after! I can already tell just by looking at their website that they know what they’re doing.

Canadian Baller Homepage

They have also released two trailers, but I can’t seem to get them to work; it warns that the latest Quicktime is needed.

Trailer 2

I’ll get these to work eventually!

I never miss the opportunity to push companies like DerDer. Definitely worth watching, great for a peek at the action of MAO for those of us who couldn’t get out to the East Coast.

The Best of The Short Bus

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

DerDer has what is quite possibly one of the greatest paintball video segments known to man in all of its DVDs: The Short Bus. I’ve seen several incarnations of The Short Bus, but one really, and I mean really, sticks out.

On Natural Selection, The Short Bus exceeded itself. Check it out:

Some favorites?

“Oo, let’s double up the dorito!”

“Get yo’ ass on the ground, ‘cos Chris Lasoya said so!”

“No, that was just some OJ from breakfast.”

Ragtop Scenario Videos

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Ragtop has become well known as the premier scenario paintball video producing specialists. Covering almost every single major scenario game in the US, they’ve progressed into an awesome team of film directors and editors, that sometimes eclipses what the big names like DerDer and MWAG do. If you don’t believe me, then check out these two previews for some of the latest Ragtop productions.

Battle for Ironforge

Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Think Dodgeball for paintball. Here is a true underdog story that I need to get my hands on now. Blackballed looks to be an actually decent independent film about paintball.

While leading his team to their fourth consecutive victory Bobby was shot. Desperate to stay in the game, Bobby intentionally wiped the paint from his jersey, thus committing paintball’s most heinous crime — “Wiping.” The three-time champ was banned from the sport and rejected by the paintball community.

Here’s the trailer!

Heroes for a Day, The XSV Story

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

From PBNation:

The new epic classic from the makers of Cereal Killerz

Be one of the 1st to own and watch this DVD.

Over three years in the making this epic movie is a rare, unscripted behind the scenes look at the professional paintball world you won’t find anywhere else.

“This isn’t a game; it’s a fight. Knuckles bare, fists clenched white, all weapons approved, and the bastards of the world are waiting in the shadows with broken bottles and big grins. And this fight is fought everyday. On long highways, dirty couches and floors, rock hard dirt fields and shaking planes. In foreign lands, lost, hated, broke. It’s the battle to prove to the world that your small part, your pinprick slice of existence, matters. That even if the sun explodes tomorrow and scatters us screaming into the void, we go smiling because we had faith in ourselves, faith to gather a tribe and try to make our own reality. Nobody gives you anything until you make them understand. That’s why we formed this team, to make people understand.”

DVD info:-Running time 135 minutes
-30 minutes of Bonus footage
-Directors commentary version of the film with guests Nicky Cuba, Rich Telford, Matty Marshall, and Alex Fraige all there to chime in
-Dolby 5.1 surround sound

DVD packaging includes:
-A 56-page Photo Book
-Brand new Monkey with a Gun sticker sheet only available inside the DVD-not sold separately

Special PbNation offer includes:
5 PbNation stickers
5 MWAG stickers

“H4AD is a frank unscripted documentary covering the daily lives of men playing on a professional paintball team. It contains very strong language throughout the movie and the frequent use of the F bomb. If you or the person you are purchasing this product for would be offended by the use of such language please do not purchase or view this film.”

The trailer looks straight-up awesome. Cereal Killerz was received to rave reviews and honestly, this looks to beat it. I’m actually really considering buying this DVD, which is huge considering I can’t afford paint.

Stealth Media Productions - The Best of Online HD Paintball Films

Friday, February 16th, 2007

It’s been a while since I’ve featured an amateur paintball film producer, and I can think of NONE better than Stealth Media Productions. Featuring FREE HD paintball films, the SMP site is just packed full of goodies.

From the man himself at SM Productions:

Stealth Media is a one-man operation driven to give everyone paintball videos of the best quality on the internet, although Stealth Media has only been around for less than nine months, it has grown into a well-known paintball video producing company with a growing fanbase which started right here in Southern California with a small group of teammates of Nick Champion. The goal is to eventually one day bring to the paintball world videos on dvd, so the more you watch the videos and support, the faster I can reach that goal.

I encourage everyone to download some videos from the site and say your thanks to SM Productions in any way you can. This is my way of saying thanks for some of the best paintball films I’ve seen.

Here is a very low-resolution teaser. The true versions that you can download will blow your mind in their clarity.

DerDer Productions - Sticks and Stones

Thursday, February 1st, 2007

CFOA 2006 had some sick moments, and leave it to DerDer to capture them all on film. “Sticks and Stones” is soon to be released and by the trailer, looks like it’s gonna be a must have. I’m still amazed by “Obscure Influence” after over a dozen viewings. I’m eager to see what the latest by DerDer is gonna bring.

K3 Productions

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

K3 Productions

K3 Productions makes paintball movies.

Free movies, that is, available for download at their site, making them one of several production teams that does high quality video editing for some sweet downloads. While perhaps not quite up to par with DerDer, the movies still elicit quite a response by many paintballers. Because the movies are available for free at K3’s site, and on hosted sites like YouTube, the videos reach a larger audience than DerDer and companies that don’t release full length movies online.

Recently, K3 has actually put something up for purchase, but for a greater cause. Coverage of the 3rd Annual Lauren’s Hope Foundation Charity Paintball Tournament is on sale through the site. When a production venue like K3 uses its influence for a good cause, it just gets me feeling all warm and fuzzy. And kinda wanting to mow faces. But I think that’s fairly constant, so…

Derder Obscure Influence Paintball DVD

I had this article up before the last blog was transferred, and then everything was lost. But this one deserves better than that. Dana and I split the cost of the DVD, which was about $15 each or so, not too bad. It covers…

NPPL Las Vegas
PSP World Cup
NPPL Sandiego
PSP Los Angeles Open
NPPL Huntington Beach
PSP Orlando

And in between a few of these segments you can find a few team profiles that include Dynasty (imagine that!), Avalanche, XSV, and Infamous. Derder also threw in a bonus segment of bloopers that we all like to see, as well footage on New York Raiders and PSP Northeast Open 04. The running time is over 90 minutes, and when they say action packed, they aren’t lying. From nearly start to finish, it’s nothing but paintball. Oh, and don’t forget the awesome soundtrack! I ripped this from the Derder site, but I still can’t find who plays the music in the very intro when the guys are playing chess. If anybody knows, hook me up.
