Quit Yer Moaning and Start Soluting! Or Solving, If You Prefer The Grammatically Correct Version

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Everyone (yes, that means you!) is complaining about cheaters these days. If you aren’t complaining about cheating and are instead doing the cheating then you can get the hell off this site and go read some idiocy on Small Talk about condom slogans or pick up lines.

Well, my friends (assuming those cheating bastards have left), it is time to do something about it! Heck, and not just cheating either! This about being heard. You are the customer, the athlete, the player, and you need to be heard.

I invite you to be heard. Start small - talk to local field owners about things you’d like to see in the future for the fields in your area. Then take an active role in it, whether that means volunteering your time to set up a better hyperball field or helping put together picnic tables near the staging area.

A lot of fields are short on refs, and if you’re willing to learn and take it seriously, then you should definitely give it a try. This is a good way to promote sportsmanship and fairness in a proactive manner. If you see someone cheating, make sure you get them out of the game, and then talk to them afterwards. Say something like “Hey, man, I saw you wipe that hit, can you make sure not to do that again?” Make sure they acknowledge you. It’s important that they know that it is absolutely not okay to cheat.

And if they cheat again, there’s no need to let them keep playing against honest ref-fearing folks like you and me. Talk to the field owner, and be sure you know exactly what the field policy is in a case like that.

Here is your chance. Start taking more of a part in the paintball community at large. Don’t accept the status quo, instead work for a better environment for everyone from professional players to rookies just renting their first guns.

Views From A Paintball Cynic

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

Rob “Tyger” Rubin has crafted one heckuva superior blog. “Views From A Paintball Cynic” is excessively well written, and brings up many great opinions that I disagree with.

Apparently it’s been around since 2005, but no one told me anything about it! That’s okay though. I forgive you.

Here is what Tyger has to say about his blog:

So what can you expect from this blog? Views from someone who’s been burned by the best, ripped off by the worst, and tired of towing the party line when it comes to dealing with these people. Paintball has problems, and instead of dealing with them the entire industry would rather pretend they didn’t exist at best, or cash in on them at worst.

It’s pretty delicious and refreshing for me, a paintballer who thinks about things in a more positive light than this gentleman (who I simply must refer Evan to, seeing as how Evan is such a cynic himself.) I think paintball is in the crapper, but I think I’m a bit more hopeful than Tyger.

Anyway, Views From A Paintball Cynic is totally worth a read. Five thumbs up and all that.

The Latest On the DP Threshold

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

Threshold On Ramp (25 BPS?)

The Dangerous Power™ THRESHOLD™ was never meant to be released to the public. Our engineers and design team had a bit of a clash when it came to the aesthetics of the new marker. Leaning towards ‘clean lines,’ where function is hailed above form, the chief engineers of the project commented that the milling was ‘too wild, and far too excessive.’ Cost was another prohibitive factor. 20 tools utilizing the latest 3D software, running 24 hours per day to produce only 7 bodies! However, after a bit of persuasion, it was agreed that the Threshold marker deserved to be noticed. The bold and aggressive milling that screams for attention hides what truly is amazing- and that’s the simplistic yet groundbreaking technology inside.

Our goal was to create a product that will be a leader in efficiency in the category of single tube markers. It had to be based on an operating system never used before—since in our opinion, the current designs are far too complex, requiring several parts and o-rings. Repair and maintenance is rather difficult, and often needs the attention of a certified ‘gun tech’ that specializes in its operation.

Enter the Threshold…

Weighing in at just 35.2oz (2.2lbs), which includes the full two piece barrel, feed neck, ASA, and battery, the Threshold consists of only 2 parts and 6 easily accessible O-rings in the entire operation. Based off of a ‘dump valve’ system and a custom, in-house designed 3-way solenoid, the Threshold boasts excellent efficiency numbers. Actual 6 month field tests resulted in efficiency figures of 1000+ shots before any noticeable drop-off from a 68cc tank, filled to 3000psi. Leave the heavy tanks at home guys!

A special patented flip lever ASA is included (RAPS), along with Dangerous Power’s newest patented feed neck, known as the ‘XTREME GRIP™.’ This ultra low rise feed neck offers even pressure 360° degrees around, which guarantees the tightest, most secure possible grip around the feed tube.

The board will enable users to choose up to 8 modes of fire, up to 25bps. For maximum consistency, solenoid dwell settings can also be adjusted via dip switches on the board.

Several colors will be available, including Dark Earth, Metallic Brown, Alien Green, Deep Ocean, and Dragon Black. Since all anodizing is also done in house, custom colors will become available, varying from batch to batch.

High costs will limit production to only 500 units. The new Dangerous Power™ Threshold™ will only be available through authorized DP dealers. Demand has already far exceeded supply.

All patents will be strictly enforced.

-Dangerous Power™ Research and Development Team

Ahhh!! So, not a spool valve. Which makes sense, considering DP Fusions are known for their insane efficiency, and it would be a step backwards for Dangerous Power to manufacture a spool valve - an operating system known for inefficiency. Some examples of the spool valve include more recent pieces of the Smart Parts marker family most notably. (Shocker!)

The flip lever ASA is easily the best on/off system out today. I could almost love the Fusion simply off its ASA.

I’m pretty much psyched. If I can get my hands on one of these bad boys… whew.

Trinity Proto Matrix Rail Trigger Frame

Friday, August 3rd, 2007

null

Features:

* Super light weight (Like all of the after-market frames…)
* Aluminum construction (So?)
* Roller bearing trigger (Fine, so better than stock, I’d hope.)
* Large trigger guard (Wow, very true, look at that! Looks a little excessive, to be honest.)
* Mini rail (Mhmm, wait, what?)
* Snatch grip (Okay, a nice feature.)
* Slick design (True enough, I do like it, but there are far better frames for the PMR out there. And many of them will be cheaper / the same price as the Trinity frame.)
