It’s only the latest rage! That’s right, the Dynasty Dragon paintballs are banana scented! They’ve actually been out for quite some time, and it’s the same type Dynasty uses, so I’d bet that they’re high quality. I’d really like to try some out, just to splatter banana on some foos, but for $80 a case I think I’ll spend my money on more important things like a new mask. Oh, and they don’t taste like bananas by the way…
Oh the power of technology. It’s always been fun dreaming of all the high-tech things you could do with paintball stuff. You know – night vision goggles in your Profilers, nuclear powered paintball guns, self-guided sentry Shockers…
Well it appears a group of inventors did just that. Well, the latter of the three anyways. It’s just a prototype still, but it looks like it already could make it to the field. It’s programmed into a computer which has some type of camera, and in the test a guy wears a yellow shirt around the lab, and the gun is able to track wherever that shirt goes completely on its own (it senses according to color). Amazing. It even operated smoothly when they ran actual paint through it.
Just watch it yourself. The clip runs about 4:30, but the cool stuff starts a minute or two into it. The first half is just the building process. Enjoy!
Having problems with balls breaking on you? These magical pants will solve all your problems. No, seriously.
A good friend of mine just bought a pair, and they literally repel paint. I saw him get lit up on a run-through, with probably 7-10 balls hitting him around the legs. Looking down, he realized that none of the balls had broken, and proceeded to shoot the hell out of the guy who had attempted the run-through.
It was amazing. There was no way my friend should have survived. So, if you’re willing to spend the $100 for magical pants, do it. They rock in so many ways, it’s not even right.

I’m trying to collect a list of clinics that will be going on around the world, well the big ones at least.

During the 16th and 17th of December, Break50 Paintball in Tarpon Springs, Florida will be hosting a clinic that will include drills on walking the field, game angles and strategies, breakouts, sweet spotting, and sportsmanship. It’s a shame I didn’t find these earlier.
Critical Paintball to host a clinic…but I couldn’t find any other information on it.
Those were the only hits I found, but check back for more in the future. I’ll try to keep the larger clinics posted as news of their dates becomes available.
PBNation is running an Invert Mini giveaway contest. There will be two markers given away, but the catch is you must be a supporting member to be eligible to enter. The money goes to a good cause anyway, so sign up and get your chance to win!

A brief history of Team Dynasty is also posted up. I’d like to post that too, but it’s not my story. If there is one thing that I observed after viewing their site, no matter how much skill your team has, no matter how many sponsors you have, you’re still only going to be as strong as the bond between you and your teammates. Dynasty is built on long time friendships between their players. Ever since the late ’90s, they have literally left a dynasty on the paintball community as they swept series championship year after year, and will probably continue to do so for many years to come.
I really don’t care how bad you hate Dynasty, and you can say all you want about them, but what they have wasn’t simply given to them. Through their friendship and determination, they have managed to become the best of the best. I admire that, because no team will go anywhere without them.
The power stance. A position from which you are ready for anything, to spring into action, to mow faces, to dodge the paint as it flies your way.
There are many forms of this stance, though almost universally it requires bending at the knees while behind a stand-up bunker, and tucking your gun tight into your profile.
I have decided to embark on a quest for the perfect power stance.
In my research, I have come across many ways to harness the power of a perfect position. I hope to include many of these styles into my own power stance.
For example, with this stance, I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to stop paintballs in midair.

If I ever get into a fist fight in the midst of a particularly vicious paintball game, this stance will probably come in handy. However, I’m not sure how to really integrate it into my power stance…

Googling “Power Stance” made me realize that there is a power stance in music as well, involving a guitar and rock and roll. Ever the meticulous scholar, I tried it out.

Taking these outside influences into account, I began to narrow my search to fields within the paintball sphere. I managed to find several things that will not be included in my perfect power stance, including…

Anyway, I plan on trying out more stances next time I play, and I shall update you on how my Quest for the Perfect Power Stance is going. Until then, may paintballs bounce off you and refs ignore the paint on your grill.
I was browsing PBNation and came across an interesting thread on accuracy. Now, I’ve always heard that paint size to bore size greatly affect your accuracy. The ideal size of paint for any barrel is one that will roll through the barrel with a little bit of air behind it, such as you breathing into the barrel. If you drop a ball into the barrel, and it rolls freely through then it’s too small. If it gets stuck inside the barrel and you must force it out with some effort, then the paint is too big.
There was heated debate in the thread I came across. Does the bore size really matter? Do you really need to buy a $100+ barrel kit? I personally think it would help. In the summer when the paint swells due to high temperatures, you wouldn’t want a barrel that’s going to be too small and bust your paint.
What they did tend to agree on were two things: paint quality and air consistency. I remember when I used to use an old Spyder Imagine. One shot would be right on target, and then the next one would fall short by five yards. That’s the kind of inconsistency you want to get rid of. The best way to do this is to simply shoot Nitrogen/ Compressed Air instead of CO2. Air pressure expands at a constant rate, and the regulators built for these high end guns can create velocities within a range of +/- 2 fps whereas CO2 guns can vary to extremes, sometimes as bad as +/- 40fps or worse!
Paint quality is something that every player should look for, no matter what gun you shoot. A broken ball inside your gun is going to simply ruin your day. We used to play in our woods, and when a ball would break, we’d have to take everything apart and then clean it out. It was a good twenty minute down time. I especially had trouble with my Imagine, simply because it feeds to fast and doesn’t have PDS (paintball detection system/eyes). Once paint is inside your gun, you lose even more accuracy and your paint will be doing some insane stunts. I’ve always had good luck with Evils, Draxxus, and 32 Degrees.
This is fairly old, but dang, it has to make an appearance. If there was any one gun I could choose, this would be it.

Look at the way the red accentuates its curves! That’s so hot…

Thank God traditional paintball garb turned from camo into jerseys and padded pants, instead of… this.
Laning is one of the most important things that you have to do off the break, and at certain points in the game. A player shoud be skilled at both holding and lane, and avoiding a lane.
This drill should test both aspects, depending on the role you play in it.
To start, you need three players.
Player A will be the one shooting lanes.
Players B and C will be running and gunning to their own bunkers.
You start all players at their break points, essentially, it’s a quick 2v1 match, except with different objectives. Have players B and C running through different lanes, at different times, but let player A know which lanes he needs to shoot, because you are supposed to assign lanes in a game.
Anyways, long story short, game starts, Players B and C book towards their bunkers and go in low and fast, hopefully avoiding any stream of paint that Player A has managed to send their way.
Rinse, dry, and switch players out.
Here it is - one of the largest games in the history of paintball featuring over 1,000 participants playing simultaneously. This was one of the biannual scenario games held at Splatter Park in Columbus, Ohio, during the 2006 season.
If you are anything like me, you dig the idea of setting up either your myspace page or your desktop with an awesome paintball background. Well there aren’t that many readily available on the net, so I’ve compiled a small list you’re sure to find useful.

Splat Magazine’s got some nice wallpapers… if you know what I mean.
The Procaps Hub group has a lot of very cool desktops if you look a round a little bit. I used two for both my Myspace and my team’s Myspace.
This is a good run-through drill that is pretty easily set up on any speedball field.
Firstly, you need a straight lane to run through. On both sides of the lane, there should be bunkers to the left and right spaced roughly 5-10 ft. apart. Behind these, set up paint boxes, buckets, whatever is handy at the time. The objective is to run through these, switching hands as you go, shooting the objects set up behind the bunkers, as fast as you can.
Make sure to emphasize that the object is to make the kill, not complete the run through as fast as possible. This would be more realistic, because in a game, you don’t keep running if you missed on your run-through.
This is a great way to enhance speed, accuracy, and ambidexterity.
